October 13th Sunday Lesson - Chris Mains

We often think of the priesthood as the men of the church, when in reality, it is the Power of God on Earth.

The purpose of the Priesthood is to help us to find happiness in this life and throughout eternity.

"You Young men - I encourage you to use your bright minds to study and learn the Articles of Faith and the Doctrines they teach." -Elder L. Tom Perry

"As long as we are willing to rise up again and continue on the path, ... we can learn something from failure and become better and happier." -President Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"I pray that we may prepare ourselves to give whatever priesthood service the Lord may set before us on our mortal journey." - President Henry J. Erying

"Brethren, as the priesthood of God we have a shepherding responsibility." -President Thomas S. Monson

How do we support our Priesthood brethren?
-Family Home Evening
-Study and learn the articles of faith
-Knowledge will change you for the better. Learn doctrines
-Discuss family history ancestors and their examples of failure and how they kept going. We fail, but we can learn from it.
-Be supportive after mistakes Build them up. Don't keep bringing up the mistakes.
-Encourage self esteem. "Never say anything that will shake their confidence." - Brother Mains
-Prepare to give service. We are the good Samaritan. We need to be ready to serve others.
-Remind priesthood brethren to go Home Teaching.
-Be sensitive and encouraging.
-Make sure they know you love them.
-Perspective. Learn how they love. Learn how they see. Especially with teenagers.
